cApStAn at E-ATP Conference, Berlin, Germany | Assessing Tomorrow—Shaping the Future Together
Berlin is a city of contrasts. Recent and distant history are present at every corner, culture and counterculture clash openly, it is a political centre, it has a university, economic power and a zoo. Contrast is a good prism through which to observe new developments of any kind, and history is precious to look into the future, which is precisely what we intend to do next month: the European arm of the Association of Test Publishers (E-ATP) will hold its annual conference at the Hilton Berlin from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 October, and the aptly chosen conference theme is “Assessing Tomorrow—Shaping the Future Together”.
My colleague Anubhav Nathani and I will be there to connect with all the organisations we work with and discuss the latest trends in the multilingual testing industry. What are the priorities in tomorrow’s workflows? Can we ensure that Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging remain at the top of the priority list when leveraging new technologies?
Will fairness be recognised as a validity issue in tomorrow’s assessments? Is Artificial Intelligence the pivotal force that will reshape the modalities of learning?
I very much look forward to sharing the floor with Industry Titans in two powerful panels:
On October 24, 11:30 a.m-12:15 p.m., “Leveraging AI to Transform Learning: Insights from the Product Development Journey”, moderated by Ada Woo, VP Innovative Learning and Assessment Solutions at Ascend Learning, with Sara Vispoel, Chief Assessment and Learning Officer at Finetune (Prometric), and Rory McCorkle, VP Business Development at Strasz Assessment Systems. We shall discuss innovative use cases that show the breadth and depth of technology-driven progress in education. We shall also examine how product design can leverage AI to foster inclusivity and broader access.
On October 24, 3:45-4:30 p.m., “Diverse Voices, Fair Assessments—Navigating Cultural and Linguistic Variations in Test Creation and Administration”, with Cicek Svensson, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Caveon Test Security, and Nikki Eatchel, Chief Assessment Officer at Prometric. The talking points will include how cultural and linguistic factors can affect test performance as well as development.
Berlin, here we come!
